Yin-yang sign – of swirling blood flow with an aneurysm or…

Yin-yang sign – of swirling blood flow with an aneurysm or pseudo-aneurysm. It may be observed on various imaging modalities. On contrast enhanced CT studies the appearance may be due to mixing of opacified blood with non-opacified blood or in combination with mural thrombus. On Doppler sonography (as seen above) the appearance is created by blood within one side of the aneurysm travelling towards the probe (coloured red) and blood on the other side travelling away from the probe (coloured blue).
